My Five Favorite Looks from Euphoria Season 2

If we learned anything from the “If I went to Euphoria High” trend that reigned over social media in early 2022, it’s that its costume design is top-notch. Often mocked for being over the top or even unrealistic, Euphoria’s costume designer Heidi Biven didn’t hesitate in going even further with the series’ second season. Biven herself said she played it safe with the first season, but pushed it further in the second. The result is immaculate; the characters’ arcs are impressively mirrored by the outfits they wear. From Cassie’s House of CB “crying in the bathtub look,” to Maddy’s “ultimate NYE Baddie” cut-out dress designed by Akna, Biven has proven her remarkable talent for storytelling through fashion. We gathered some of the season’s most iconic, yet lesser covered looks in a 5 tier list.

#1: Samantha’s Norman Norell Gown

First, we have Samantha’s vintage 1965 Norman Norell Sequin Mermaid Gown which is later given to Maddy as a gift. This is perhaps one of the most important garments of the whole season, we can only imagine what this dress means to Maddy. When she puts it on, she comes one step closer to the person she aspires to become, a more mature and refined version of herself, she becomes a bit more like Samantha. We saw a lot of character development for Maddy this season and were left wondering what the writers have in store for Maddy and Samantha in season 3.

#2: Lexi’s Batsheva dress

Lexi’s black Verlet Batsheva puff sleeve dress is another example of immaculate styling. It perfectly embodies Lexi’s transformation and the essence of an underappreciated character ready to show what she’s capable of. We’re glad to see that she finally received some much deserved screen time in season 2. The dress itself is made by the New York-based brand Batsheva, established in 2016, that laces Victorian cuts together with prairie dresses and a hint of ‘70s hippie mom.

#3: Jules’ Raf Simons hoodie

Jules’ is regarded as one of the characters with the most wearable style of the series, she’s often seen in graphic t-shirts, and underrated but well-researched designer pieces. In episode 5, Jules is wearing a Spring/Summer 2003 Raf Simons cutout hoodie, which is exactly the kind of loungewear we’d expect from a future Parsons alumni.

#4: Faye’s Y2K Sailor Moon look

If there’s anyone who can pull off a maximalist Y2K look, it’s Faye. Played by Chloe Cherry, she’s the new girl in town and an fan favorite from season 2. In her very first appearance, she wears a custom Sailor Moon halter-top with a pleated jean skirt and a purse just big enough to fit a pink Motorola Razr and an iPod Nano.

#5: Cassie’s Oklahoma dress

Finally, we have Cassie's blue mini dress designed by Seth Pratt. Pratt is a costume designer responsible for some of the more important looks of the season, including the tracksuit Cassie wears while trying to impress Nate. For this specific dress it comes as no surprise that the main inspiration came from the one and only Dolly Parton. Although this outfit seems out of character for Cassie, we can’t stop thinking how good she would’ve looked in Lexi’s rendition of Oklahoma.
